Red Wing Shoes was founded in 1905 as a family-owned and operated business and has been producing footwear ever since – from cowboy boots and construction shoes, hiking footwear and waterproof footwear – all over the globe.

Red Wing was established in Minnesota and offers a vast selection of work boots for both men and women, as well as footwear accessories like socks, insoles and laces.

The Iron Ranger

Red Wing’s Iron Ranger work boot from their Heritage line is one of their most beloved workboots, taking inspiration from Northern Minnesota’s Mesabi Iron Range where workers in iron mines were known as “Iron Rangers”.

Built from hardwearing leather uppers, designed to resist moisture and staining for an authentic appearance. Double-layered toe caps add extra protection.

Boots from Red Wing can take some time to break in, but with proper sizing and Red Wing insoles they quickly feel customized to your feet after several months of wear.

These lightweight sneakers feature a corked rubber sole and Goodyear welt construction that make them simple to put on and remove, as well as the 7mm Vibram mini lug sole which ensures good gripping surface traction and is easy to replace.

The Rovers

Many football fans recognize Blackburn Rovers’ blue and white halves as an iconic part of its identity, dating back over 100 years.

Rovers history is marked by scandal and challenge on the pitch, yet at times has flourished with some of the finest players in the country coming through its ranks.

As part of the Football League’s formation, Rovers spent much of the 20th century competing at its highest tier before they eventually experienced relegation and had an extremely difficult journey back.

After just a brief stint in the Conference, Rovers were once more relegated back into Division 3 for 2001-02. This relegation marked their worst ever experience and made for an uphill struggle for all involved. Gerry Francis was appointed manager and things looked promising initially – only for their form and results to quickly decline over time.

The 1907

At the height of financial chaos in October and November 1907, bank runs caused by failed speculation caused a liquidity crunch, ultimately culminating in the Panic of 1907.

Due to an unprecedented run on deposits, banks and trust companies across the nation collapsed, but wealthy Wall Street financiers such as J.P. Morgan risked their own funds to save the financial system.

Key to this event and prior panics was its unique character: trust companies were not part of the banking system but instead served as state-chartered intermediaries that competed directly against banks for deposits.

Red Wing boots were designed for hunters and farmers, yet lightweight enough for daily tasks. Their 875 Classic Moc Toe model is an outstanding example. Constructed using six inches of premium S.B. Foot Tanning Co. Oro Legacy leather with Goodyear Welt construction and Traction Tred rubber outsole; triple stitched quality completes this excellent piece.

The Black Klondike

Klondike may now conjure images of delectable ice cream treats beloved across the nation, but back in 1890s, its meaning was quite different: people flocked there from all across America in hopes of discovering gold.

Prospectors heading into the Klondike were in for an enormous task; their equipment weighed close to one ton, and traversing uphill was both challenging and dangerous.

Despite these obstacles, some prospectors were successful; Vincent Schwarz from La Crosse, Wisconsin is one such individual who found success.

Martha Louise Black of Chicago, Illinois had an education in nature studies and became both a naturalist and politician.

Her story serves as a poignant reminder of what it must have been like for African-Americans living in Smokey City and Klondike to try to break through segregation barriers that had long existed in these neighborhoods. When looking at maps of Smokey City and Klondike Smokey City it becomes evident that streets are wider and houses larger on the west side of each neighborhood.
